I. Solía tener antenas y patas con ventosas.

We talk about: Public Policies about Illegal Drugs in Mexico.

Speech Language: Spanish, 98%; English, 2%.

Summary: ‘Violence and corruption are inevitable byproducts of prohibition. The drug war is reaching new heights in Mexico as the fight for control of border trafficking escalates. Nearly 500 people have been killed in Mexico's drug wars so far this year despite a crackdown on the illicit trade by President Felipe Calderon…

He also has announced plans to institute drug testing in schools throughout Mexico. Leaving aside concerns about the effectiveness of student drug testing in general, the question is begged as to whether the Mexican government can afford such an initiative.’

We return on May! Take care!

Fin de temporada

. . . . . . . . . . .

The Velvet Underground and Nico was The Velvet Underground's influential 1967 debut album. The album was released in March 1967 by Verve Records.

This is the Norman Dolph demo recorded in April of 1966, in a decrepit New York City recording studio, Scepter Studios. Three of the songs, "I'm Waiting for the Man", "Venus in Furs" and "Heroin", were re-recorded during a stay in Hollywood later in 1966.

In 2002, this newly found acetate demo recording of the album containing unreleased takes and mixes resurfaced. The LP was bought by collector Warren Hill of Montreal, Canada in September, 2002 at a flea market in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City for $0.75 Hill put the album up for auction on eBay and was successfully sold on December 16, 2006 for $25,200. Police in the port of Lazaro Cardenas in Michoacan state uncovered 19 tons of ephedrine in a shipment from China disguised as another substance.

The strategic port of Lazaro Cardenas is often the scene of deadly shootouts between drug-traffickers and authorities, and police and the navy were guarding the ephedrine haul in case anyone tried to reclaim it.

Mexican president Felipe Calderon vowed to crack down on violent crime after taking office Friday, promising to rein in drug-traffickers who have turned parts of the country into war zones where police fear to tread.
